[Another person that hasn't heard of Action Duels... she guesses since he didn't recognize the duel disk, it makes sense.]
It's a new kind of dueling with mass introduced to solid vision holograms. "Duelists locked in battle, kicking the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters, they storm through the field!"
Basically, it's a duel style that favors physical interaction with one's monsters as they duel while seeking out "action cards", free-for-all spells and traps that can turn the tide of battle. All the kids in Maiami City train in this kind of duel.
[So this is the kind of dueling in which Yuya also must have trained. From the sounds of it, it's got a touch of spontaneity to the style.]
Physical interaction and action cards, huh. It sounds like there's more to do in a duel. [Wherever Maiami City is, it seems to be making leaps in technology.] In Heartland, we still use AR Vision.
[She'd think that would explain why he looks like he's been in a fight. But, Yuto and Kurosaki are from there, and they use duel disks just like the others, only theirs are even more advanced. Something is not adding up here.]
[IV gives her a long and hard look. If she's used to Action Dueling, she has reason not to be so familiar with another type, but the thought is still bizarre. It's not as though AR Vision isn't widespread.]
It's a type of dueling that runs on augmented reality technology. The real surroundings don't sustain damage from a duel, but the holograms are real enough. You've never heard of it?
[He narrows his eyes a little bit in thought, halfheartedly buying into the reason. Anything with CERES so far has been rather sketchy, he'll give her that. He shrugs.
Maybe.]
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that we're both duelists.
[She says that like she's expecting (or hoping for?) more to come. IV would rather their numbers stay small, but he's fresh meat next to the likes of her. What does he know?]
Who knows how that'll change in the future. How often does CERES "retrieve" people like us, anyway?
It seems like it's usually every couple weeks. That's consistent enough where if it doesn't happen, people get concerned - but that's only happened once since I've been here.
[Little does she know it's about to slow down again. But she is certainly hoping for more, just in case there was truth to their predicament, and their friends were in danger. And there is at least one who she wants to get back.]
[IV looks away, his thoughts also wandering. That's much quicker than his initial assumption, whatever it had been, and only serves to increase the odds of somebody else he knows showing. The current party is already awkward as it is.]
[She wonders if he'd rather be the only one, or if he just doesn't believe being here could be a good thing... not that she would fault him at all for the latter, but it's curious anyway.]
... True. It really doesn't take long for that to become apparent.
But there's strength to be had in numbers.
[She doesn't mind the idea of more duelists. Not even more duelists from home, as long as they were the right ones. If someone from Academia showed up, other than Sora or that Serena person she'd heard about...]
[Realizing that Yuzu's not taking his answer seriously, IV shifts his weight.]
I'm not joking.
[Exactly where is Maiami City? He doesn't expect everybody to know him, but this consistent lack of recognition is sad. Timeline discrepancies, is it? Maybe it really is that.]
I don't know who it is in your time, but I'm the Asia Champion, IV. If you don't believe me, ask anyone from Heartland.
[He nods, if awkwardly, now that that's been cleared. It's a bit of his own fault, too, but he doesn't have it in him to put himself on the spot by apologizing for it.
It'll be better if they proceed with this introduction business. So he does.]
[Whoops, she completely forgot, when she thought IV was being sarcastic.]
Ah- Yuzu Hiiragi.... from the You Show school of entertainment dueling. Our style is about making full use of action duels to make a good show for the audience.
no subject
Oh - yup, it is! The kind they use for action duels. Are you a duelist too?
[Even if he isn't, being recognized is a pleasant surprise.]
no subject
Action duels?

What's AR vision?

no subject
Not really... the action duel technology started with my parent's generation so I guess I never really thought about other types of systems out there.
[Unless, of course, this AR vision is unique to the XYZ dimension. But she's not so sure she should be springing that on someone she's just met.]
Well, CERES pulls people from all kinds of worlds and timelines. Maybe there is a discrepancy here.
[That seems like a good way to segue into dimension talk later at least.]
no subject
Maybe.]
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that we're both duelists.

[Or maybe he's the type that wants to duel every duelist he meets? They certainly exist.]

This place hasn't been that charming so far.
[When this is just the first day, he has to wonder how rocky the rest will be.]

What's your name?
no subject
Call me IV.
[Figuring that she'll return the introduction, he doesn't ask for her name aloud. His following silence says it all.]
no subject
[Nope, Yuzu's crossing her arms.
She thinks he was making a bad joke, since she said strength in numbers and then he answered with a number. She wanted his actual name, god.]
no subject
I'm not joking.

...Oh, so it's like a stage name? That's okay, I'll believe you now. My mistake.
[Though it couldn't hurt to ask Yuto later just as a point of conversation. Maybe he'll be able to clear up the things that don't make sense to her.]
no subject
It'll be better if they proceed with this introduction business. So he does.]
And you?

A good show, huh . . . So you guys duel for the fans, is it?
no subject
Yup! Well, it's not like we only duel to get fans or anything like that. But as long as the crowd is excited, we consider it a success.
